So it’s been a while right? Sorry. I’ve been utterly shattered lately and have barely been spending time in Second Life compared to my usual or what I’d like to. Subsequently getting around to actually writing a blog entry has been tough because I just haven’t had the energy to do it despite oodles of FSG related stuff going on. I want to thank the full FSG team; admins, mods, DJs, Blacklist Crew, and everyone who pitches in to make our community so awesome for being so supportive over these last few months/weeks.

It’s time to semi retire this classic Dal pic 😦 …
But that’s only because of the rebuild (which I’ll get into below). Look out for our new teleport system here (although the TP pad is still there at the Penthouse):
It’s easy to spot between the sweet artwork and the V-tech vendors. Just walk into it and you’ll get a prompt on screen to choose where you want to go 🙂 .
Anyhow now that stuff is done I actually have no idea where to start so I guess chronologically (hopefully) will do…
Esmi and the team were hard at work for the early months of this year with a rebuild because we said goodbye to our “Mady’s Playground” location at the end of 2024. With Mady having decided to move on from Second Life we couldn’t fix some of the weird glitchy things that were happening with her Sci-fi/Cyber club build. So rather than muddle around with that we decided to start over. The new FSG main location opened on March 22nd (although it doesn’t feel that long ago); we even had a sweet launch party with DJs London and Geo:
I’ve got to admit that I was so hyped for the whole launch party – and for everyone to see all the hard work which went into the new build – that party pics barely crossed my mind; sorry 😦 . But what I can share with you are some awesome shots of the new build which Esmi took for us. He really put his heart and soul into this project so it’s only fair that it’s his pics which show it off here…
The best way to see it all is to visit of course (SLurl at the top of this blog) but as you can see here we have a really sweet new dance-floor space – complete with Jellyfish – for our FSG Thursdays DJ events plus a huge TV screen area off to one side where we’ve been hosting our “movie night” once a month.
On the inside of our main building we have a handy help-desk where you can collect all sorts of handy info about FSG and stuff which will help when creating your avatar. Alex from V-tech/Valentine even rezzed chest mod vendors for us so new folks can find what they need. Plus there’s epic art-work of me 🙂 created by Jun one of our wonderful guest DJs.
I’ll share some more pics below but I think it’s only fair that Esmi and Dal get to speak on the build from here on; Dal had the creative vision for something new and Esmi worked super hard to make it into what you can see 🙂 .
Dal:
“The Build – growth isn’t something that’s limited to membership, our home has to both reflect and accommodate all our new members and needs. As someone who had close ties to Mady’s Place that change was scary. To usher in the future I’d have to let go. However with our brilliant team and Esmi’s knack for building we have a beautiful new place to call home which reflects our values. It really is a dream come true.”
Esmi:
“I’ve been really enjoying the response and positivity around the new FSG main location build. I’m so happy people have been exploring it and finding all the cool and fun little features hidden around the site, many of them are personal touches added by members of our team here at FSG.
The project came about due to our need for a new ‘hub’ location – the beach and penthouse didn’t quite cut it – so Dal came up with a basic design idea and I kinda dithered a while, then went nuts with it and spent several months pulling this place together.
Whilst deceptively simple in construction, the build required careful planning to ensure it met our group’s needs and could cater for a range of different activities from dancing and movie nights up to providing a space for bigger stuff like our recent Slapdown Round 2 event.
I went through endless iterations before settling on what you see today; it was a struggle at times, but what kept me going was the constant gentle encouragement from my fellow admins and the community at large, and the response to the build has really cemented it as worth all the time and effort.
Talking like this may give you the impression that the build is “finished” but that’s not the truth at all – just think of this as phase one, or a placeholder, while we work on something even better. Parts of the location will gradually be upgraded and improved, evolving over time to give FSG a truly unique and very special home. I can’t wait to share it with you all!”
To coincide with the relaunch we had a photo contest 🙂 . From the moment the new location opened the competition started and we announced winners a few weeks later during a FSG Thursdays set. Time to talk about the “Slapdown”! Now established as an annual FSG event 🙂 . Firstly if you’d like to see what happened last year here’s the blog about it all:

It doesn’t seem like it but the Slapdown was only 10 days ago… Geo and I were DJs, Dal was our epic fight announcer, and we had a crowd of community members taking part in what turned out to be an ever evolving “tournament” to crown our second ever “FSG Slapdown” champ.
The event was hosted at our new venue (see above); Esmi created a temporary backyard wrestling style arena in our field 🙂 . We had a surprise entry mid event by last year’s winner Kelis, a series of wonderfully fun fights, an awesome crowd who stuck around for the whole event, and of course winners and prizes!!
Nuno was inevitable it has to be said; he really is a fighting champ who went undefeated all night and took home the L$3000 prize! As you can see he just can’t be stopped and he’s won more tournaments since:

“It’s quite a feeling looking back at our events and despite all the chaos around the planning phase the event itself runs smoothly. I’m blessed to be working with some of the best. This year was just as exciting as the last. London’s smack talk added that extra spice Slapdown needed. It was also great to see so many new faces joining in on the fun. I hope next time it’s just as exciting.”

“If the vibe of our first Slapdown event was “violent chaos”, then I had high hopes our most recent one (Round 2) would have a “simple” vibe.
Still crawling energy wise after completing the big build, I wanted this event to be no nonsense and minimal effort but of course, it’s never quite like that on the night.
On the fly changes to the tournament brackets, last minute decisions about prizes, and even who was actually fighting led to yet another wild event. At times it felt like a roller-coaster whilst at others it felt like a genuine fight against fate and the whims of some unknowable primal force.
However it was a whole lot of fun.. . Many good battles were had and Nuno was a very worthy winner; being utterly undefeated throughout the contest.
Everyone who showed up brought their A-game – even the crowd – and Dal was on fire as our announcer: I couldn’t have asked for more really. Another awesome success for FSG; I’m excited to see what we can do for Round 3 next year!”

Blacklist’s “Pride In the Clouds” week is coming up soon! It will run from Sunday the 1st of June until Saturday the 7th and will feature a whole host of amazing DJs (including me!). Semy Says… So what’s next?
Well we’ve got some more plans but we need to chat to the Blacklist Bunker crew and confirm dates for later in the year; that will include a brand new summer party idea (hopefully) and the return of our fashion show which we hope to hold as a double event this time so we can celebrate the FSG Anniversary at the same time!!
Stuff will be happening in the meantime though 🙂 . Once Blacklist Pride week has concluded please keep an eye on the FSG Server as I’ll be announcing a brand new – and very huge – new competition; FSG’s Top Model!!
